Rs 500, Rs 1000 currency notes stand abolished from midnight: PM Modi

In the war against Pakistan, Modi has dropped a bomb against all the corrupted people who steal away the money from common man of India. Today, he announced that Rs 500, Rs 1000 currency notes will be abolished. The news exploded like a bomb when Prime Minister Modi came on screen to reveal his new step to eliminate corruption, forgery and black money.

It is a bold step from our Prime Minister Modi which will change the whole course for our nation. It takes guts and I must say that it’s a masterstroke. Sure, it will cause a little problem to the common man but it will be for a very short period of time about 15-20 days which I think is Okay… given that the whole nation’s economy is gonna rise.

Key Points from the Speech

  1. Modi said people holding notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 can deposit the same in their bank and post office accounts from November 10 till December 30.Narendra Modi Quote

No longer these notes are valid. PM has given a deadline before which each and everyone should deposit their old 500 and 1000 RS notes in the banks or post office. The person who fails to do so by 30th December may have to put some extra efforts afterwards. They may be asked to provide their complete identity and show the source of their money. So, get it exchanged before 30th December.

  2. 500 & 1000 Rs notes are just a piece of paper.Rs 500, Rs 1000 currency notes

Although big notes has been demolished from our currency but notes that are in lower denomination such as 5-10-100 and all coins are still valid. He also announced that new notes of 2000 and 500 Rs will be made available on 10th Nov by RBI (Reserve Bank Of India)

Modi also said that there will be no change in other form of money transfer, i.e., cheque, DD, payments via credit or debits etc…

  3. Checks on Money Withdrawal
There is a limit to how much money one can withdraw in a single day or week. There is a limit of 10,000 Rs withdraw on a single day and 20,000 Rs withdraw in a week. Businessmen are sure going to be sad about this decision but if Modi has announced it then there ought to be a reason behind it. Let’s see how it turns out.

Banks will be closed for 2 days straight. Prime minister said that Banks will be shut for 2 days and that he relies on his staff that they will perform their duties with all sincerity. They will try to reimburse all ATM’s with new notes so as to avoid any difficulties to the people. He also said – there are a very few moments when people of nation gets chance to actually do something for the growth of their nation and that they should feel proud about it and work in cohesion to achieve a better tomorrow.

What do you think about this masterstroke from our PM Narendra Modi? Eagerly waiting for your replies on the same.

Soul Sucking Jobs Kills Creativity

You have been told your entire life to get a college degree, get a decent job, earn money, pay bills, buy home, settle down… Well, this is the story majority of us have lived or are still living. You fail to see the system around you, the system that forces you to walk the same path. The system that doesn’t want you to think infinitely. It’s time to break the laws my friend and free yourself from these Soul-Sucking Jobs

This article is for everyone out there who are working under some company or organization 50 hours a week, away from their family. Taking bus in the morning just to reach office to sit in a 4X4 cubicle. In all this chaos, if you will observe yourself closely then you will find the reasons why you should not be doing this. This article is for people who are not happy with their jobs and searching for the reason or people to tell them that you should QUIT!

#1 You are being told to do something which you don’t want

steve jobs quote

This is the problem related to majority of people working in the IT sector especially. The happy few are really the ones who have find their dream job. And they are very few. So, if you are not working in your dream company or you are working in the wrong direction then it is a signal that you should immediately change your company.

It is very easy to say than doing it because as usual we are under loads of liabilities and taking such a bold decision needs guts and self-confidence. It only takes a second to take a decision which can change your life. If you search the internet for all the successful people vs unsuccessful people you will find this contrast. Successful people come to a decision in a blink of an eye which has resulted as a complete life changing decision for them. Perhaps the most controversial aspect of the IBM PC is how Microsoft ended up with the contract for the operating system, which would eventually make Microsoft’s MS-DOS the standard and set the stage for Microsoft becoming the leading PC software company. If you know how this deal took place, you will see that Bill Gates closed the deal by taking a decision which would have destroyed his whole life if would have gone otherwise .

#2 You have bigger dreams than your company itself

work on your ideas

After interviewing people in my circle, I found this another reason why people were unhappy with their job. These people do not fit because they have big dreams and are not allowed to share their ideas. Their ideas do not get the platform and thus comes out in the form of frustration. You need to understand that there are people who are eager to find people who have ideas, it’s just that you need to find them. The only way you can find them is by getting out and finding your own way. You will never find people standing at a single place, you got to reach out there to live your dreams. You need to find a way to communicate with such people.

This is really a very difficult situation. Gradually you begin to loose you mind’s creativity and your mind just become a piece of waste muscle in your body. You loose your imagination and starts to turn out into a machine with no unique skill. A machine which is being paid to do a particular work. This type of job is sucking your soul every day and what you should do right away is QUIT! If you feel sick just by the thought of going to the office the other day, I think it’s time to quit.

#3 Your life has become too stagnant

stagnant lifestyle

A very common cause why people hate their jobs. If you someone who has an innovative mind and the one who likes to do new things everyday, meet new people then you are probably the one who will hate your job because it is too consistent. It is so much consistent that you can very well predict your future because you know nothing much is going to change. Well, this type of lifestyle will definitely kill your creativity and send you to a state of depression. You will start to loose your charisma and slowly you will turn into a machine which only do work and more work.

If your life is going in the same direction then make sure you start looking for some job which will make sure that you stay alive as a person and understand your needs. If you are financially stable then start a business. People like you excel’s the business with their innovative mindset. You have the power to stay with the changing trend because that’s what you love – INCONSISTENCY.

The corporate world is very systematically designed to suck the soul out of every individual. They train you to follow their rules for their benefits and in return they give you a handful for which you readily agree to give away your entire life just to fill their stomach. What kind of service is that where you give your soul for money. If you are financially stable then you should look forward to starting your own job or offer your services as a freelancer. That way you will work on your time and on your own rules.  So, follow your heart and give two weeks notice and keep on searching because your life’s purpose is out there someone and you need to find it. Things will find it’s way to align properly. You are the master of your own self.

You should not trade your life for money rather money for your life 🙂

I’m sure you will have a lot to share, please share your experience with me below…

Top 5 Indian movies every American must watch

Hey Friends! I have been planning to write this article on Top 5 Indian movies every American must watch for a long time. The main reason behind writing this article are my friends and relatives living in America. They’ve been asking me to keep them updated about the latest movies and the movies that are worth watching and I have always been the one to update them of the latest movie trend in India. Afterall it’s my FARZ to keep them updated 😀

In this article, I will list down the top 5 movies that everyone living outside of India must watch. I have particularly mentioned people living outside India because I’m 100% sure that everyone living in India had already seen it. Let’s start the countdown…

#1 3 Idiots

3 Idiots

This movie revolves around 3 friends, so does the name came “3 Idiots”. The storyline goes like this- Two friends are searching for their long lost companion. They revisit their college days and recall the memories of their friend who inspired them to think differently, even as the rest of the world called them “idiots”. The very thing that inspired these 2 idiots has inspired everyone. This movie is directed by Rajkumar Hirani.

This is the movie which has become collectible for many. It teaches some really good life lessons and expands your mind to think infinite. The movie is full of fun as it depicts the life of an average engineering student in India. I’m an engineer myself so I can say that the depiction is so real and connected that I was feeling myself to become a part of the movie while watching it. This has been in my collection for almost 5 years and I have watched it numerous times. I highly recommend that you watch it too…

#2 PK

Yet another classic directed by Rajkumar Hirani starring Amir Khan. This movie has changed the minds of millions living in India. The movie has targeted to break the false beliefs of the very people living in India (not only india but people from every country).

The storyline of the movie goes like this – An Alien from the outer space visits earth. This Alien looks exactly like humans but asks questions which nobody has ever asked before. The questions are so simple and childlike which carries the deep meaning and curiosity.

Each and every part of the movie is filled with entertainment and knowledge. This movie will surely give you a new way of thinking. I request you to watch the movie with your mind open and if you can enjoy it with your friends and family.

#3 My name is Khan

This movie is directed by Karan Johar starring Shahrukh Khan (SRK) and Kajol. This is one of my favourite on-screen couple. This movie is one of those which are ough to make you numb.

My name is Khan

The storyline goes like this – Rizwan Khan, a Muslim from the Borivali section of Mumbai, suffers from Asperger’s syndrome, a form of high-functioning autism that complicates socialization. The adult Rizwan marries a Hindu single mother, Mandira, in San Francisco. After 9/11, Rizwan is detained by authorities at LAX who mistake his disability for suspicious behavior. Following his arrest, he meets Radha, a therapist who helps him deal with his situation and his affliction. Rizwan then begins a journey to meet US President Bush to clear his name.

[From IMDB]

After watching this movie, there’s one thing that I would like to say – There are different people living on this planet. Some are good and some are bad. The definition of good and bad is not consistent and it keeps on changing with time by the most powerful people of the world or the people who lure for the power. Every person wears a lens of perception which distorts his/her vision and restricts him to see what’s the actual reality. But then there is another breed of people who are gifted. They are born with naked vision and see the things as they are without any filter. Rizwan Khan is one such soul who will touch your heart for sure.

I would just say that you watch this movie without presuming anything. Watch this movie for its intent and message and that there is nothing in this world that holds more power than an emotion of LOVE.

#4 Jab We Met

Released in 2007, Jab We Met is a romantic drama movie. With real life love couples of that time being the star cast of this movie added to make this movie a hit.

Storyline of the movie goes like this – A depressed wealthy businessman finds his life changing after he meets a spunky and care-free young woman. Watch the movie to see how his life takes a turn along with all the masti and comedy on the way.

The movie gave the audience the type of masala they expect from every comedy drama. Songs adds to the beauty of the movie. Each and every song is popular and if you will ever plan to take a survey for the likliness of the songs in this movie then you will find 9/10 people saying that it’s their favourite. Jab We Met was a fresh story of it’s time with pure entertainment.

#5 Taare Zameen Par

This movie is directed by Amir Khan himself. Taare Zameen Par questions the very foundation of how this world operates. This is a one time movie that everyone must watch.

The storyline of the movie goes like this – An 8 year boy was thought to be a trouble-maker. Nobody tried to understand the real problem of that boy, not even his own parents. Until later, a teacher came into his life. This new art teacher has the patience and compassion to discover the real problems in the boy’s life.

Every part of the movie teaches you a lesson. It expands one’s awareness for the disease called Dyslexia and gives a knowledge how to handle people who are suffering from this disease.

I hope you watch and enjoy all the movies listed above. If you’ve have something to share then I’m all ears. Just comment below with your favorite movies and let the discussion start.

The Secrets of Healthy Relationships

Hello Friends, Today, I just felt like expressing my thoughts on relationships. What I have learnt so far and that has helped me in keeping up with others, especially in my bad times. Whatever I am going to write below is my own personal veiws and doesn’t mean to disrespect or disregard what others think about it.

The Secret of a healthy relationship is way too simple, infact, it is so simple that people simply pass over or look for a way which is rather complicated. Well, that’s the tendency. Because, we like stuff which is more expensive in price rather than expensive in values.

Secret #1 – Look at the things the way they are…

This is really the most simplest thing to understand in order to pursue a good healthy relationship. We all have a tendency to create a perception of a person as we look at him/her. We start making moral judgements about the way he/she is dressed up, or the way he/she walks, the way he/she talks etc etc etc… the list goes on. All these things happens in less than 5 seconds. Our mind rushes through our past experience and beliefs to create a perception of that person based on his/her superficial aspects. Well, if you do this, Stop It Right Away!

Secret #2 – Be Concerned about your own-self

A Haryanvi sold a buffalo to a Punjabi. After a week or so the Punjabi frustratingly returns to Haryanvi and says — ‘Re Jaat ! Thaari bhains kaani hai’ (Dear Haryanvi ! Your buffalo has an eye issue).

To this the Haryanvi answers:-

‘Re sardar ! Tanney Bhains se Doodh kaadna hai ya Aaankh matakaa karna se’ (Are you to milk the buffalo or romance it in her eyes’?)

This is exactly what’s going on in this world. People are more concerned about things that don’t matter, rather than their own self. You must not waste your time thinking about the ‘people issues’ in your lives. Just stop for a moment and think, What good can come by wasting time thinking about other people issues? What if you take this time and rather think of all the ‘Raita’ in your own life. You can improve yourself by investing that time in yourself.

Secret #3 – Live to Enjoy not to Impress other

Do things which matters the most to you. Things which makes you happy and not something just to show off. We are not slaves. I believe that we all are here for a purpose, and that purpose is definitely not to impress others. Life is to live and enjoy and do all sorts of things which makes YOU happy and not others. Because, note one thing, you cannot do anything to make others happy unless they want to be (Kuch bhi Karlo, dusre ko khush tab tak nai kar sakte jab tak wo khud na hona chahe). That is the truth of life. So, stop wasting time to impress others and make your life enriching.

The above secrets are not really the secrets and we all have heard it somewhere or the other. But then, Why don’t we practice it, if we know it already. Just live life the way it is. Nothing Lasts forever, so live it up…drink it down…laugh it off….avoid the bullshit & never have regrets becoz at one point everything you did was exactly what you wanted… Life is a celebration.. Keep on celebrating… And remember that the FAILURE is SUCCESS IN PROGRESS. Campus preparation II- How to Clear Group Discussion Rounds

As in the last blog, I told you about different types of aptitude and written questions. In this blog I will tell you about second most tricky part of  any selection process- Group discussion round. Exams like CAT, off campus recruitment of MNCs have group discussion rounds before the interview round. In this round again, only some people are being selected on the basis of what they speak and how they speak it. This round tests your public speaking skills, presence of mind and also your general knowledge. There will be an invigilator and a group of 10-20 people. A topic is given on spot with 10 minutes for preparing your words. Sometimes this preparation time shortens up to 3 minutes. So you need to be well prepared at that instant of time. Whatever you speak about the topic should be fluent and clear. Here the task is to catch invigilator’s attention in a positive way and then you will be shortlisted for further rounds.

Group discussion

Group discussion tests a person’s team working skills and also the executives get to know every candidate at personal level. If you will speak up then only you will be noticed. At times there will be two groups formed during a group discussion taking form of  a black and white discussion. At this time you need to take responsibility of what you say without dodging out from your side. Preparing for a group discussion is like preparing yourself to become a good public speaker. This preparation takes months of time and regular practice. The power of words is infinite,  It’s a blessing of god to humans through which many of us became a good leader and exerted a great influence in society. Ideas are of no use if they remain unexpressed. The one who knows how to put across an idea properly and interestingly catches the attention and gets shortlisted in any field.

Become a good public speaker

As the topic given in a group discussion can be anything or from any field therefore an excerpt knowledge of various things is necessary. It is not at all relevant that if you are opting for a campus selection then it’s group discussion rounds will have topics only related to engineering. It can be anything, so you need to be prepared. For this start eclectic reading, which means that you should  read and acknowledge yourself about different agendas in the world. If there is a popular political event being held in your country then read about it. If any big news spreads up the whole world like fire no matter how useless it  seems to you. It can probably be chosen as a topic for interesting and productive discussion. For exampleAngelina jolie and brad pitt’s break up, what if this topic comes up in your group discussion and all you are left with is a blank reaction saying “what to say?”.

Some of the latest group discussion topics are-

  • A room without books is like a body without soul
  • Technology creates income disparity
  • Should Pakistani artists be thrown out of India?
  • Winning is what matters, whatever may be the cost

I suggest you all to start practicing your speech as in a group discussion, not only it matters as to what you speak but how and when you speak it. Right choice of words with the right body posture is a must. Your actions should not create any offended feeling between the group when you are participating in a group discussion. what you speak, should be sensible, expressive, enthusiastic, helping to move the discussion further and convincing. A good speaker must have these qualities-

  • Earnestness
  • Language
  • Observation
  • Quick wittiness
  • Useful intention
  • Enthusiasm
  • Confidence in self

Whatever you say should be true. A good speaker is also a good listener, so be observant and listen to your team members before popping up with your idea in between a speech. While sitting in a group discussion your body posture should be descent. Girls should not fold their legs neither boys should maintain a maharaja rusty dude look on their face while attending a group discussion.

Read about literature, politics, sports. You don’t have to get in depth but just read enough to say on that subject.

Some of the do’s and don’t of group discussion are-

  1. As soon as you get the topic, prepare at least 5 points for it in a paper like short notes.
  2. Discuss with your group members about who will start the discussion and if there is going to be an opposing side in the group too.
  3. Be attentive to what others say, maintain  a good body posture and don’t look dull or uninterested in the conversation.
  4.  Try to start the discussion if you get a chance, because this will naturally set you apart from others in your group, plan a strategy to do so.
  5. If you are initiating the discussion then first introduce yourself shortly, introduce the topic and then put your point forward.
  6. Speak at least three points about the topic and do not repeat anyone’s sentence in these points, keep your points distinct.
  7. Do not interrupt someone while they speaking, yes you need to speak up to grab the attention when you are not getting a chance. For this you need to observe the group and  speak up as soon as the other person stops.
  8. Be respectful towards your team members and address them through words like as my fellow mate says or call the person by name if you know him/her.
  9. Do not get aggressive or shout during a discussion. Yes you want to prove your point but this will create a negative image of you in front of invigilator.
  10. Be fluent while speaking and don’t use big fancy words which will just bounce off your team members. This will also create a bad impression of yours.

Let me share an experience of my life related to group discussion. I was volunteering for a job fare held at my college in 2015 where 108+ companies visited within three days and selected desired graduates and freshers for placements. I was  in charge of this room where group discussions were held for a company. There was this guy who was one among the group. He was well dressed, sat straight and looked really attentive. The moment he started speaking was the moment he got canceled from the list. He delivered his speech in a speed of  bullet brain saying all the big words and half of what he said was not even understood by either his group or the HR. At first the HR looked attentively to listen to him but in less than half a minute he got bored and I could see that look on his face.  Also the guy kept speaking rubbish and irrelevant words in fast tone just to acquire the given time of the discussion and not let others speak. This thing really made his group members upset and they all gave him an angry look. Please look you don’t make a mess like this while you attend your group discussion round.

Also try to practice your speech in front of mirror and discuss topics with your friends. This was all about group discussions. Also read my blogs on interview attire for women and interview attire for men.

Campus preparation I – How to clear Written and Group Discussion Round

Hey friends, campus recruitment have started and as you read in the previous blogs about Interview attires for both men and women. Getting a job isn’t that easy. There is a chain of process after which only some people get selected. Last year I observed a couple of off campus for engineers and I saw that out of thousands of people coming for the job, less than ten people got jobs in any company. Some companies even took only one or two out of a crowd of hundred. This year I observed a marketing company’s off campus which as always came by surprise within a short notice of one day. The selection process included written and group discussion rounds.

These two rounds are found in almost every exams held in India, be it an off campus recruitment process of a company or selection process for top IIMs. Written includes aptitude and group discussion gives an on spot subject to talk on with at most 10 people. Getting through with written and group discussion rounds increases a person’s chance to get selected and raise above all. So how to prepare for written and group discussion?

In this article I will be sharing with you some tricks and practice exercises to prepare really well for written and group discussion rounds.

Written Rounds

Written rounds have two types of questions broadly.

Technical questions
English Vocabulary

How to prepare for written and group discussion rounds

There are four types of sections in an aptitude. These are-

Logical reasoning
Data interpretation
Maths/quantitative aptitude
Non- verbal reasoning

Logical reasoning

This section includes questions like blood relations, missing data, puzzles and condition based problems. These questions are interesting and can be solved really quick if you have a good presence of mind and good reading skills.

Data interpretation

These type of questions come mainly in business entrance tests. You have to read a bar graph or pie chart and then a statement sentence will be given followed by a series of questions. If you have good graph reading skills and a little knowledge of percentage and ratio then you will easily solve these questions. Only problem is that they are time consuming and with lack of proper practice you will only be able to solve a few of them.

Maths questions come in every written test. These questions include percentage, ratio, tsd(time, speed, distance), number system questions. Well all these topics have been taught to all of us in school and each one of us is familiar with them. But then we fail to solve these only. Some people adopt this strategy of solving a number of papers from some online website without practicing the basics of these topics. This results in learning the answers or just doing them for no reason at all. If you really want to excel in this section then start practicing the basics of mathematics and then move forward to online test series.

Non- verbal reasoning

Series, analogy, mirror images, embedded figures, paper folding and cubes/dices are the types of questions which come under this category of aptitude. There are various books available in the market to practice non-verbal questions.

Technical Questions

This section comes in IT company’s written tests. These include questions on your engineering subjects. Exams like amcat, toefl have these questions. Well you have lots of time to go through this practice, almost four years of practice if you are a good student of the subject.

English Vocabulary

Just start learning your grammar again and you will score good marks for free if these questions turn up in your written test. There are some tricky sections like reading comprehension, jumble paragraphs or find the synonyms. For these sections you need practice. Verbal reasoning needs to be very strong if you are preparing for GMAT or GRE exams.

So these are the aptitude questions and for the preparation I suggest you to work really hard on each of these sections, right from this moment. Nothing is as frustrating than not clearing up for  written exam.  Make a schedule, buy your books and start practicing your aptitude. Also practicing these questions makes you a smarter person (hahaa joking ;)).
